 "Learning to serve like Jesus involves 'risk' in being outside our comfort zones. Service Project Idea:
Collect yard sale items, such as clothing, books, dishes, furniture, etc., and hold a free yard sale either at your church or a location in a low-income area. Encourage a welcoming atmosphere by offering refreshments to shoppers. Advertise for the yard sale by posting flyers and signs in the community.

 For over 100 years this faith-based, nonprofit organization has reached out to at-risk youth, the elderly, the homeless, people with disabilities, offenders returning from prison, and individuals recovering from addictions through human service programs in 400 communities in 44 states. Through diverse programs and volunteer opportunities, Volunteers of America addresses the unique needs of each community.
